Electrix - Exhibiting at Interpak 2017

Electrix Exhibiting at Interpack Components 2017

We are delighted to announce that we will be exhibiting our award-winning product range at Interpack Components 2017, Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, Düsseldorf, Germany. The show runs from the 4th to the 10th May 2017.

As the market leader for over 30 years, we are proud to be referred to as the World’s leading manufacturer & stockist of Stainless Steel Cable Management Systems including Trunking, Conduit, Basket Tray, Cable Tray and Electrical Enclosures.

On-site product demonstrations will include a unique water display to showcase the innovative features of the Electrix IP66 Interlocked Switch and Socket Enclosure range. The enclosure incorporates our unique Electrix Sealed Compartment Wall Fixing Points which are renowned for reducing installation times as they eliminate the need for difficult-to-clean external brackets. The sloping roof design of the enclosure helps to deflect water and the extra deep fascia protects the switch and socket. The water unit will demonstrate how the robust features work in unison to preserve the IP66 rating.

Also on display, for the first time in Europe, will be our NEW Flush Mounted Pharma Enclosures. To be used where all cabling is conveyed within the cavity of the wall, the main body of the enclosure is recessed meaning only the lid section and optional components are visible to the operator.

If you would like to arrange for a personalised product demonstration, please make an appointment.

We look forward to meeting you on stand F06, Hall 18.

Gulfood Manufacturing 2016

Electrix Exhibiting at Gulfood Manufacturing 2016

As the market leader for over 30 years, we are proud to be referred to as the World’s leading manufacturer & stockist of Stainless Steel Cable Management Systems including Trunking, Conduit, Basket Tray, Cable Tray and Electrical Enclosures.

We are delighted to announce that we will be exhibiting our award-winning product range at Gulfood Manufacturing, The World Trade Centre, Dubai. The show runs from the 7th to the 9th November 2016 and will be one of many worldwide exhibitions that Electrix will feature in over the next 12 months.

Over the past 30 years, ground-breaking patents have elevated Electrix to the top of our field, but if our comprehensive range of standard products doesn’t fully meet a customer’s needs, we also offer a Bespoke Design service. Recent investments have welcomed an impressive fibre optic laser machine to the production line. With the ability to cut holes to tolerances of 0.05 mm, the laser brings quality and precision to the forefront of our design process.

Martin Ellis, head of our award-winning design team, is delighted with the results we have seen from our latest investment. “Our bespoke design service has excelled. Our customers know they can rely on us to meet the vigorous demands of the industry. With stringent tolerances regularly specified, we’re fully equipped to meet their exacting requirements. Lead times are also much more efficient. This technology enables us to cut up to 5 times faster.”

We are delighted with the developments Electrix have seen over the past 12 months and are looking forward to attending Gulfood Manufacturing to give current and future business partners the opportunity to speak to our Electrix team and see first-hand why Electrix is the processing industry’s preferred supplier of Stainless Steel Cable Management Systems.

We look forward to meeting you on stand A49, Za’abeel Hall 2.

Blog Choosing The Right Material by Electrix International Ltd

Choosing The Right Material for your Cable Management Installation

Choosing the right material for your cable management installation is essential.

Whether you’re experimenting with a small DIY project or installing trunking for a huge industrial company, the following factors need considering:

  • Environmental Conditions
  • Fitting Requirements
  • Durability
  • Aesthetics
  • Cost

What materials are available?

Stainless Steel, Galvanised Steel, Aluminium, GRP and Plastic are commonly used within the cable management industry. Each material could be deemed suitable depending on your project requirements.

Stainless Steel is an incredibly popular choice because of the many uses for which it is suitable. For example, varying grades of Stainless Steel can be used in installations far and wide, from standard factory builds to harsh environments such as Chemical and Offshore, due to its far superior resistance to corrosion as well as its durable and hard-wearing nature. This means that, providing your installation is maintained correctly and the items remain free from serious physical damage, you are highly unlikely to have to replace a Stainless Steel product for many years.

Galvanised steel is popular for its durability and modest cost. However, when looking at longevity, galvanised steel’s zinc oxide coating will eventually wear away, leaving it vulnerable to corrosives and weather conditions.

For projects where cost is a key factor, plastic could be an adequate and cheaper alternative to metal. However, plastic also needs to be replaced regularly due to its lack of robustness and durability. This causes plastic to quickly become very expensive considering the costs incurred to replace and fit new products.

To help you choose the right material for your cable management installation, please see our material grading chart as listed in our “Planning Your Installation” eBook. The chart accurately compares a wide range of materials according to:

  • Corrosion Resistance
  • Ultimate Tensile Strength (MPa)
  • Frequency of Replacements
  • Ease of Cleaning
  • Suitability for Harsh Environments
  • Suitability for Hygiene Critical Environments
  • Whether the material is Aesthetically Pleasing
  • Whether the material is Recyclable

Understanding IP Ratings

Understanding Ingress Protection Ratings (IP Ratings) is extremely important when planning your cable management or enclosure installation. IP ratings specify the degree to which an electrical enclosure protects against the intrusion of foreign bodies and moisture.

The classification system is comprised of the letters “IP” followed by a two or three digit reference.

The first digit indicates the degree to which the product is protected against foreign bodies such as tools, dust and hands. This ranges from 0 (no protection) to 6 (totally dust tight).

The second digit indicates the degree to which the product is protected against moisture such as natural weather conditions, cleaning solutions and submersion in water. This ranges from 0 (no protection) to 9K (able to withstand high pressure/high temperature steam-jet cleaning).

If a third digit is present this indicates the degree to which the product is protected from mechanical impacts as measured in joules. This digit is not required by the IEC 60529 and is often omitted.

It is important to note that where a number is replaced by an X it indicates that the product is not rated for that particular test. For example:

  • IPX6 – the product has not been tested for protection against the ingress of foreign bodies, but has protection against powerful water jets (from all directions)
  • IP6X – totally dust tight, but has not been tested for ingress of moisture.

You will occasionally come across IP Ratings that don’t follow the above format e.g. IPXXB and IPXXD. In respect of protection against electric shock, reference is made in the IEE Wiring Regulations to IPXXB and IPXXD as alternatives to IP2X and IP4X respectively.

  • The letter B indicates: If a standard test finger 80 mm long and 12 mm in diameter can enter the enclosure there will be adequate clearance from live parts.
  • The letter D indicates: If a probe 100 mm long and 1 mm in diameter can enter the enclosure there will be adequate clearance from live parts.

Examples of Electrix IP Rated Enclosures are as follows:

IP Rating: IP66 – Totally dust tight. Protection against powerful water jets (from all directions).
