Do you manufacture anything in Galvanised Steel?
Every item manufactured by Electrix is made from Stainless Steel.
Manufacturers who produce Stainless Steel and Galvanised Cable Management Systems in the same building using the same machinery, are at high risk of contaminating their products.
Cross contamination is the biggest factor in the failure of Stainless Steel as this seriously affects corrosion resistance.
The major appeal of Stainless Steel in the Food, Pharmaceutical, Brewing, Soft Drinks and Offshore industries is its resistance to rust/corrosion.
The only product produced by Electrix that is not Stainless Steel is the Zintec Gear Plate in our Enclosures. These are all made by a third party and are stove enamelled before we receive them.
Do you use a laser or a punch to cut your Stainless Steel?
We use both.
Electrix recently invested $2,500,000 in state of the art laser/punch machinery to ensure the finest precision possible. Our purpose built laser bed eliminates the risk of sharp edges whilst our robust quality control systems provide for the highest quality product.
I have had laser cut Stainless Steel in the past and it had sharp edges. Do Electrix' products have sharp edges?
When our laser machines were delivered we spent a number of weeks perfecting the cutting process before we produced any goods for stock.
The parameters of our laser machines have been finely tuned to provide the best cut for each part.
Each individual product is checked for sharp edges when it comes from the machine to ensure a high quality, smooth finish.
What is the difference between your Satin (Brushed) finish and your Polished finish?
We manufacture our raceway and enclosures from pre-finished Stainless Steel in polished and satin. Polished finish is a bright, mirror-like reflective surface. Satin is a dull, brushed surface with a visible grain. 304 Stainless Steel is available in both a satin and a polished finish. 316 Stainless Steel is only available in a satin finish, except for in our new Flush Mounted Pharma Enclosure range.
What is the difference between 304 and 316 grade Stainless Steel?
The difference is in the chemical composition of the steel, and its resulting resistance to attack by corrosive substances.
304 grade Stainless Steel is suitable for installations in environments which are kept hygienically clean eg. in the Food or Pharmaceutical industries. For environments where exposure to particularly hazardous or corrosive substances is likely eg. the Offshore or Chemical industries, it is recommended that the more resistant 316 grade Stainless Steel is used.
